How do you narrow down dropouts and channel faults?

Use a familiar recording and start at low volume. Check left and right separately, plus the inputs, controls and connection you intend to describe as tested. If something sounds wrong, repeat the check with a known-working source or another suitable cable.

Record the source, connection, test duration and fault. A persistent issue is an unresolved finding, not a definite driver diagnosis. Test charging separately and claim battery runtime only after an appropriate test. Do not power damaged cables or supplies; do not open cases for this inspection.

Hypothetical example: earbuds without a charging case

Suppose wireless earbuds are offered without their charging case. Do not compare them directly with complete, tested sets. First check whether a compatible case is available and whether it lets you verify setup, charging and both channels.

Include the case and sourcing costs in the buying limit. If an earbud remains untested, do not assume revenue from a complete working set. For bulky HiFi equipment, a specific packing and shipping plan also belongs in the buying decision.
